Wilderness Guardians

Wilderness Guardians is a unique group run by Myself and Ross (natureconnectiongsy) on a Saturday afternoon 2-4pm, £25 per 2 hr session. Age guide 10-13yrs.

It will run for 13 weeks to complete the Guardian level of The John Muir Award. This group isn’t only about this award, which offers a framework and certificate for those that this is important for. It’s a nurturing and intuitively led space where connections are woven through the children and land, bringing a richness and abundance of resources and experiences to our groups. An important element is that this overflows into their family and community too.

Children need deeply connected Nature Mentors, and wild spaces to remember their animal bodies amongst. They need freedom to move and play within environments that their bodies have evolved to know. Spaces to discover, feel safety and to deepen their relationships. It’s then that we believe they’ll know themselves as Earth, as home and how to care for both.

A little on us: Myself and Ross have a combined 20 years of leading outdoor nature connected sessions. Ross has a BA(Hons) in Primary Education enabling him to find a passion in offering holistic, child led learning experiences. His experience learned in the Ashdown Forest for a number of years offering wholesome, year round Nature Connection experiences to home-educated children, teenagers and adults. He is a qualified Forest School practitioner and Children’s Forest Leader. He’s currently at Le Murier working as a learning support assistant. I met him in 2017 at The Roots festival in Sark and we have worked together from then on.

And me… I learnt to hold nature-based sessions through the home education community. I attained my Permaculture design course in my 20’s and then followed various things: teacher training in Permaculture, Children in Permaculture for educators and another design course, Cultural Emergence leadership (with Looby Macmanara and Jon Young), folk herbalism with plant spirit medicine and regenerative living, Restoring Youth Rites of Passage: Leadership Fundamentals Intensive with Rites of Passage Journeys, Mother Nature circle leader, I’m a lover of wild food, a Culture of care trauma-informed space holder and a mum who home educates her two boys.
